Hello and welcome to our website! We are pleased you stopped by!
Every time I think about the beginnings of our program here, I am reminded and humbled by all the great support this community has given and remember this quote by Helen Keller, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much". So true when it comes to the story of how our women's shelter came to be and now how other valuable programs are beginning to emerge out of the women's shelter humble beginnings. Look over our website and read about our history and see what new things are happening for us now.
Since we are a people who take hope seriously and believe in the innate worth of every human being, it is our job to take people where they are and help get them where they want to go. The shelter will provide basic resources to homeless/ transitional women, children and families of Yavapai County. Our facility will be an outreach program by connecting guests to current outside resources.

I am L, age 47
"Before PAWS, I had lived on the streets of Prescott for 7 years. For many years I worked as a homemaker and housekeeper. I have a learning disability and psychological disability which have presented barriers to living wage employment. During my stay at PAWS, I have been able to apply for Social Security, I am currently waiting for their response. I have enrolled in Vocational Rehab, and I have been able to rent a small trailer, which I plan to share with one of the other guests I have met here. For the first time in 7 years, I will have a home I can claim as my own. I would so much like to give back to other ladies who may share a similar plight by volunteering my time to work with PAWS, if there were any way it could remain open. Even if no one received compensation, I believe we could make it work. In the dark of the night, it remains cold on the outside. All we seek is a place for the weary to rest our heads." .
